Brittany Bejma

2016 Coaching for Success

BRITTANY’S STORY

Brittany Bejma is a student athlete on UM-Dearborn’s varsity volleyball team.

She’s a leader on the court, but that’s not what defines her.

It’s Brittany’s passion for helping others that helped her earn the title of “Difference Maker.”

“I have the opportunity in my life to make a difference in the lives of the people around me,” she said. “I am grateful to have that opportunity every day of my life.”

During the volleyball team’s off season, Brittany transitions to coaching a youth volleyball team that practices and plays at UM-Dearborn.

“Off campus, I have been asked to teach high-school athletes how to pursue an athletic career in college,” Brittany said. “I feel that it is important to help others and this is one way of accomplishing that.”

“Brittany truly exemplifies the title ‘Difference Maker,’” said Mike Gibson, retired volleyball coach. “Brittany is one of our best leaders on the volleyball team.”

She recently was honored as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) scholar athlete and earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) all-academic honors.

“I was so honored to be recognized at a national level for two parts of my life that mean so much to me: athletics and academics,” she said.

Brittany has big plans for the future, which include continuing her education.

“My goal is to complete my undergraduate degrees in psychology and political science and continue on to graduate school in pursuit of a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology,” she said. “I hope to gain experience in the field of human resources and consulting, so that I may open my own consulting firm in the future.”
