Tina Russette (’93 CASL) is a model example of an engaged alumnus. She credits Natural Science professor, Orin Gelderloos for her academic success and engagement with the campus, saying, “he was not only my advisor, but a mentor and friend.” In 2000 she joined the CASL Alumni Affiliate’s Board of Governors as the Natural Sciences representative, a position recommended by Gelderloos. During her time with the Affiliate, Tina helped revamp and coordinate the College’s signature fundraiser, November Indulge. Through this fundraiser, $78,000 has been raised to support the education of more than 60 UM-Dearborn students.
Tina also volunteers for several campus programs, including graduation receptions and prospective student call nights. She is an active volunteer with the Commerce Township Community Library and is an engaged member of the Mercy High School Alumnae Association.
As her nominator wrote, “Tina’s sincere concern for the campus, her willingness to give of her time, and the passion she has for helping others achieve their educational goals have made her an invaluable asset to UM-Dearborn.”
